Contract Negotiations Update from the District

Dear Parents and Community Members:

Athletic practices and contests are operating as scheduled.

Dear Parents and Community Members:
As you are aware, we have been informed that the Shoreline Education Association and the Shoreline Educational Support Professionals Association have authorized a strike to begin Wednesday, September 5 (the scheduled first day of school) if a tentative agreement is not reached by 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 4. Although we are disappointed to learn of the unions’ decision, the Shoreline School District values and appreciates its teachers and support personnel. We want you to know that we are committed to reaching an acceptable agreement with our teachers and classified staff, while remaining fiscally responsible to the future of the Shoreline school community. We have asked a state mediator to join us in an attempt to reach a settlement. The mediator met with the District and SEA until about 1 a.m. Sunday morning and another mediation session is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. A separate mediation session with SESPA is now underway Sunday.

For updates on the contract negotiations, parents and community members may call 206-361-4400.
